This is in reply to Graham’s question about wview vs. weewx in another post.
First of all I would like to express my appreciation to Mark for his work on wview (I have been running it for 10 years). I also appreciate the help from Mark, Graham and others who have helped me over the years.
For myself, a non-programmer, I have found weewx easier to work with. The user group is much more active and full of new ideas which interest me. I miss this in the wview group.
The move to weewx was easy for me as I don’t have many modifications to move over and the databases are basically the same. Weewx will send data (VP2) to my energy monitor (
openenergymonitor.org) directly so the two work well together.
I think everything depends on your background and programming skills. Both programs are robust and run well as far as I can tell. I still run wview but use weewx as my main system. I have wview on debian jesse and weewx on ubuntu 16.
I would be happy to answer any questions about my systems.
