As long as wview is working, there's no reason to change to weewx. My PC board crashed. Mark Teel is no longer maintaining wview to keep up with OS changes. I tried installing wview on Ubuntu 17.10 using the .deb packages. I had problems. I saw Graham's suggestion to install by compiling the source. Doing that I ran into problem after problem over several days until I finally gave up. 

I decided to give weewx a try. After installing weewx with "apt install" I ran weewxd from a console and saw all the data scroll by that was in the Vantage console from the past couple of weeks.  So, weewx just came up working. I have a lot of scripts and Cron jobs that I had written and working with wview that I'll have to tweak to get moved to the weewx web page for my station. But the basic weewx software just works for my weather server.

It's an added bonus that the sqlite database for weewx is the same format as wview. So if I want to merge the historical data from wview, it won't be hard to do. The docs for weewx say when you start off, you can just change  the wview archive.sdb to weewx.sdb and it should work.

Weewx, because it is written in Python, should be a lot easier to move from one OS or platform to another.

Again, if you have wview working, I see no reason to change. Stick with what works.

All you have to do rename archive.sdb to weewx.sdb. Yesterday I installed weewx 

and got it up and running. I'm now on the way to moving my wview page modifications to

weewx. I'm still working out the kinks, but the move to weewx was not as bad as I 

expected.
