As long as you can install the required tools I don't see why not.

That things pretty sweet! My concern would be that with the ARM processor, after a year or two, doing maintenance on it would become cumbersome due to the very long restart times. This is what prompted me to switch to a mac mini.

But they certainly are tempting!

I haven't heard anyone using that particular one yet, so you'd be a trail blazer :D

Looks like it should work, but somebody's gotta try it first, and it
looks like it would be you. There may be issues with the specific
linux port. There's no info on this that I can see. Is it ubuntu /
debian or ??? Is it reasonably well documented? Is there a user
community somewhere for support, maybe with a wiki? When I was
bringing up my sheevaplug, this was invaluable!

It looks like this casts about $300. It seems to be quite ruggedly
built, and has some unusual features like the high speed serial port,
but that's pretty pricy if you don't need those things, especially if
you're nervous about putting in more work that it would take if you
follow a well-worn path. My SheevaPlug (about $99) works great! I
checked the other day, and it had been running >2 months without a
reboot, glitch or hiccup.

Bettor not use the matrix500 because the processor is maybe to light.
I've tried a Foxboard with a 100 MHz processor and it runs well, until
the htmlgenerator comes in to start generating the templates. The
Foxboard completely stalls and only a hard reset brings it back to live.
So as stated, use a Sheeva or a NSLU from Linksys.

If he is set on using a product from Artila, then maybe the
504 version http://www.artila.com/dshtml/ds_matrix504.html
with the 400 mhz proc and twice the RAM would be more
appropriate.

I and fellow group member swaakaa have had versions of wview < 5
working well on the Matrix-500. I've had several attempts at running
5.x and although it builds OK, it doesn't generate any data to the
sqlite database and I haven't had time to figure out why. I'm sure it's
possible with some effort, so if the hardware meets your needs and your
budget it may be worth considering.
