Ron W8UQ is selling all of his equipment,

I have agreed to help do this.

A few years ago, I repaired an Ameritron AL-82 for him. At the time, this was the best looking AL-82 I had ever seen. Today, I have this unit again for testing. It looks the same as before, but will be given a complete test.

When here before, I did some upgrades. The first was installation of a W8JI High Voltage Board. The purpose of this was to increase the HV capacitors from 10 to 12. This raised the total rating from 4500 VDC up to 5000 VDC. This is a very worthwhile mod to do, as there is no safety margin as-is. the cost of this mod was $300 for parts alone. W8JI was the original designer of the amp. I have now done several of these mods.

These AL-82's are fine amplifiers, especially with the HV Mod. Once testing is done, we will warrant the amp and place it for sale.
