We (the WSJT Development Team) have completed our transition
to a modern cloud-based development environment with automated
package building and testing. Related changes to our workflow
procedures reduce local burdens on team members and allow for
faster development and more frequent releases. This is good news
for all users of WSJT-X, MAP65, and QMAP! Our new official web
site is
https://wsjtx.github.io/wsjtx/index.html.
Please explore it at your leisure.
Today we are pleased to announce the General Availability (GA)
release WSJT-X 3.0.2, MAP65 3.6, and QMAP 0.7. Tested packages
for Windows, macOS, and Linux include all three applications as
well as our usual collection of utility programs. From a user
perspective these program versions are simple bug-fix releases:
installation procedures and program usage are the same as
before.
We strongly recommend that users of WSJT-X, MAP65, and QMAP
should upgrade to the latest versions. A summary of changes
since v3.0.1 can be found in the Release Notes, available here
on the new website:
https://wsjtx.github.io/wsjtx/release_notes.html.
Download links for Windows, macOS, and Linux are available here:
https://wsjtx.github.io/wsjtx/downloads.html.
The installation files are virus-free; do not be concerned about
"Unknown publisher" warnings that may be issued by Windows. For
the next release we hope to provide signed, certificated
packages for Windows and macOS, thereby obviating any need for
such warnings.
Advance notice: We are well along in the development of a new
mode called JTTY, designed for fast RTTY-like contest exchanges
and other keyboard-to-keyboard communication. Its general goal
is an operational feel similar to standard RTTY, but with much
better weak-signal performance and far lower error rate. Watch
for JTTY in an upcoming WSJT-X release candidate, and please
help us to optimize its features with on-the-air testing and
feedback.
Our public source-code repository is at GitHub:
https://github.com/WSJTX/wsjtx.
Anyone can clone this repository, which contains the project's
open-source history back to 2005. The new website includes a
Programmer's Overview for the project, with instructions on how
you might contribute. See
https://wsjtx.github.io/wsjtx/devel.html.
If your skills and interests align with the WSJT project, let us
know. We can use help with new features, refactoring for
maintainability, unit tests and installation packages,
translating the interface, and updating the User Guide and other
documentation. If you have something to offer, we will welcome
your input!
We hope you will enjoy using WSJT-X 3.0.2, MAP65 3.6, and QMAP
0.7! As always, we will be happy to receive your feedback.
