Good morning, Everyone!

The scholastic chess league started yesterday.  I have placed the current standings on the wvsca.com/links website or you can go directly to the site I use to post the results.  The $20 registration fee covers both the league team competition and the league individual tournament on Feb 22.  Players can play in one or all tournaments for $20.  The team league tournament will be submitted for rating next weekend, Feb 1.

The WV State Scholastic Chess Championship will be held at the WV State University Student Union on March 15.  Registration ends on March 12.  There is no on-site registration.  Check-in begins at 7:45AM and ends at 8:30 AM.  Play will start at 9AM.  The announcement is attached to this email.

There will be prizes for top players and teams for each section.  The top player in grade school, middle school, high school, and the top female player will be nominated to various national invitationals that take place during the US Open in Middleton, WI.  You can review details about the National tournaments here.

Go to chessregister.com to register for the state tournament.  You will need to scroll down to March 15 to find the appropriate links.  There is one link for registering Teams and a separate link to register individuals that don't have a team.

Choose the team link if you are registering a team.  You can have up to 5 players on a team.  All teammates must be from the same school.  The highest four teammate scores will be used to calculate teams standings.

Choose the individual link if your player doesn't have a team.

Upcoming Events:
Feb 1 - Scholastic Chess League - Day 2
Mar 29 - Queen City Classic - Cincinnati, OH

We will update with more dates as other events are announced.

Thanks!
