I gave Andrew the DVD and the book that was produced by MidAtlantic Cohousing.... I also gave him my copy of the cohousing handbook -- And, he has looked through the books...

Hi Gloria,

There was a wonderful video made several years back by Mid Continent Cohousing, that consisted of Katie McCamant, Jim Leach and Don (can't remember his last name at the moment, but he was the developer of Takoma Village Cohousing and Eastern Village Cohousing, "developer-driven" projects) that speaks directly to developers about the benefits of developing cohousing communities in partnership with the future residents.

The Cohousing Association was distributing it for a while, but I'm not sure whether or not they still are.  If they are not, email Ann Zabaldo at zab...@earthlink.net, and ask her how you can get your hands on the DVD.

DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLE NEIGHBORHOODS FOR TODAY'S HOUSING MARKET is a GREAT video!  

I know because I was the co-producer along w/ Martie Weatherly.  Zev Paiss and Neshama Abrahams wrote the script and did the filming.

The video and workbook were produced for professional developers to show them how the cohousing model could be incorporated into their development strategies -- which is exactly what we want Andrew to do!   It's not a "how to do development" -- developers already know that.

AND -- it's a good tool for cohousers.  I do suggest viewing it.  There are three segments:

The Cohousing Concept 16:46 mins

Sustainable Features: 4:52 mins

Business Partnership: 2:40

Good viewing with the members and prospects.

Please encourage Andrew to view it if he hasn't done so already.  He'll be hooked!  :-)

You can purchase just the DVD if you like (the book is helpful in expanding on the concepts in the video).  I can send you just the DVD for $15.00 including S&H.  These items are sold by Mid Atlantic Cohousing.  I'm just the distributor.
