2014 WV APCO LGJM Training Conference

Good Morning valued WVAPCO Member;

 

On behalf of the WV APCO we hope this e mail finds you doing well and your week starting out on the right foot. If you have not already heard the chapter has a training conference coming up very soon. How soon you ask? October 27-31, 2014 at Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, WV. As the chairperson of the Conference Committee I am very excited about this conference and the level of training we are going to provide. I’m also excited to announce that we will also be the host to the 1^st Annual Mobile Communication Vehicle Rally on Friday of our conference. This is going to be a very fast paced conference with lots of excellent training and several fun events for you the attendee during the week as well.

 

If you are not already registered for this conference please express your interest to your Training Officer, Supervisor or to your Directors. This conference is for you, the chapter membership and everything we are doing this week of conference is about giving back to you as an APCO Member and showing our appreciation for that continued membership support. We cannot put this conference on alone though, we need you the membership to attend and be a presence each day of conference, so make sure you ask about attending.

 

Attached you will find the conference registration and also the conference itinerary.  But to give you a quick summary of the conference here is what will be happening.

 

Monday – Opening Ceremony highlighting Ohio County 911, we will have the City of Wheeling Fire Department’s Honor Guard to present the colors and I’m hearing rumors of a bagpiper as well. Key Note Speaker will be Randy Lowe (former Wood County 911 Director). There will be a Fire Pit Social gathering on this evening to relax and mingle with each other as we close out the first day of conference.  We will also have our regular scheduled WV APCO Chapter Business Meeting, don’t forget we will be having elections at this meeting for President, 1^st Vice President & 2^nd Vice President, if you have not got your nominations in you can still do so to Secretary Brenda Sears by e mail at bjs...@frontier.com

 

Tuesday – We will open up the morning to a warm buffet breakfast and then head to classes. Tuesday Evening will be the WV NENA Chapter Regular Schedule Business Meeting then comes the fun with a Cookout followed by an evening with live entertainment and how about a round of Putt-Putt?

 

Wednesday – all of our Vendors and Exhibitors will be arriving and setting up their booths. Following dinner we ask you to change into your best Halloween Costume and come back in and Trick or Treat the vendor booths, should be a fun time of interaction with our vendors. Who knows, may even be a prize for the best Halloween Costume worn!

 

Thursday – as we recover from a late evening of Halloween events we head back into classes focused on you the Dispatcher and allow some time to visit and interact with the vendors. We will have the President’s Banquet and award the Linda G. Johnson Award along with President’s Award. Friday – Conference will sadly come to an end. We will be hosting the 9-1-1 Directors Council Meeting and also an Information Technology Roundtable Discussion for anyone who works in 911 IT, you will have unstructured unformatted open discussion with your IT peers from around the state.  We ask you not to leave early just because this is the last day, there will be plenty of time allotted for your to visit the vendors before leaving and we ask that you spend some time and visit the Communication Vehicle Rally and see technology is available and what assets we have across the state.  Don’t forget to stick around because at breakfast we will be giving away some door prizes that could include a gift card, a 911 training package or even an Ipad mini.

 

We are all very excited about this conference, there are several more giveaway items that each attendee will go home with along with an attendee bag for all of the goodies you collect through the week. Please pass this information along to anyone who may be interested in our conference. It is not too late to register so again make sure you ask your decision maker about attending the conference.
