Good Morning West Virginia Public Safety Communication Leaders!!
On behalf of the WV APCO Chapter and Chapter President Chris Cutright we would just like to let you know of some things going on within your APCO Chapter and say thank you to each one of you for the dedication you show every day in our profession and for being a valued member of our association. Without you and your support there would be no chapter, so with your continued involvement and commitment to the association we look forward to the future of our state chapter.
We would like to invite you to join in and get involved in our chapter at our next scheduled chapter meeting. This meeting will be held at the Lakeview Resort in Morgantown during the WV 911 Director’s Council Conference on Monday; April 7th, 2014 at 5pm.
If you didn’t already know, the WV APCO Chapter is up and running on Facebook and Twitter so that you can keep up with APCO news and updates and any information going on throughout the state. If you haven’t already, give up a like and a follow. @apcowv on Twitter and Facebook https://www.facebook.com/apcowv . We are currently working with APCO to get a website back up and running where we can interface our Social Media and PSconnect together to push you even more real time association information and updates to the email you registered with your membership and also via Social Media outlets. Never heard of PSconnect, well check it out… http://www.psconnect.org/home it’s our version of Social Media, but your connections are other APCO Members, not only within our chapter but with other state chapters. It’s just another great networking tool within our resource tool box.
National Telecommunicator Week is quickly approaching, the week of April 13-19, 2014. ( http://npstw.org ) Did you know that there is a state wide competition during this week that goes on via Social Media? Sure is, on Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 each 911 center is asked to get involved with a dress up/costume day and they are judged by photos posted in the WV NTW “Day” State Competition Facebook Group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/352914494731025 . Now with that said, this year’s theme is going to the “Duck Dynasty” theme. You can be rednecked out or sharp dressed. Get your team of dispatchers together snap some photos post them in the group and make sure we know what center your with. Let’s all get together and make sure Wood County 911 does not come away as the winner again this year!!!!
Our chapter officers are working very hard behind the scenes moving the chapter forward but this requires participation from all chapter members by getting involved within the chapter, attending chapter meetings, conferences and training classes, spreading the word and sharing what we as a chapter and as the association are doing so that we can continue to attract new members across the state. Here is a look at your chapter Officers.
Chris Cutright, President (Harrison Co. 911) Brenda Sears, Secretary (Summers Co. 911) Connie Thomascheck, Treasure (Harrison Co. 911)
Dave Saffel, Executive Council (WVSP)
Members at Large: Kim Heater and James Gum (Lewis/Gilmer 911), Steve Rutherford (Cabell County 911), Charley Bickford (Fayette 911), Mike Wolfe (Mecca 911) and Gary Glasscock (Wetzel Co. 911)
This year the Chapter’s Members at Large have been tasked with being the Conference Committee with the direction of the Chapter President. The WV APCO Conference will be held in October, specific dates will follow. As the committee is already working on the conference we do ask for your feedback. We always ask but get very little feedback from you the member on what you would like to see at our conference. We are open to all feedback as long as it is constructive and aids us in moving forward. What classes would you like to see held at this conference? What type of entertainment would you like to see provided? Where would you like to see this conference held? Again, we truly want to hear back from you, as this conference is being build around and for you the members so we really need to hear back from you.
As information becomes available for the fall conference we will get it out to everyone, we want this conference to be one of the best ever and the best attended conference with the highest level of training possible! Again thank you for everything you do for our great profession, don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with everything going on!
