to WV Coal History, Mountain Top Removal, Pros vs. Cons
Controversy over Strip Mining escalates in neighboring Raleigh County.
Those who protest mountain top removal "picket" the coal companies who
are performing the work. Just idle curiosity, and I may have included
this on an earlier blog entry, but, are we picketing the wrong folks?
If you live in a tightly grouped neighborhood and your children play
out in the yard. The street speed limit is increased to 70 MPH, is it
logical to direct your anger at me for obeying the law when I travel
your hood at 65 ? Why do we not take the fight to the wealthy idiots
who make the laws? Ya know, the folks who serve themselves in
Charleston and Washington who work for the continued increase of their
own wealth and not ours.Currently, ALL TYPES OF COAL MINING is
suffering because of the economy. Mine sites are shutting down and
laying off personnel with very little hope of ever reopening. Many
anti- coal people may applaud this, but how are the folks gonna
provide for their families? Please do not say, "Well they should go to
college and get an education and have better prospects for a more
economical and ecologically friendly job".Many folks who have worked
the coal mining field do not have the resources that our city cousins
do. We dont have a Wal-Mart every 4 blocks. This is a rural area where
coal has ruled. But after the coal left the mountains, the politicians
left the people. Yes! government has forsaken the people. Please get a
hold on reality and do not respond by saying "Well ya should have
voted for someone else or maybe you should run for office".
Politicians, lawmakers have set specific laws in place that protect
themselves. They have made it so that an individual with a simple High
School diploma can not get elected. Search the laws, you will find I
am speaking the truth. So many out of jobs, so many families
suffering. Mainly because of American companies shipping jobs to
overseas markets.Does anyone care? I mean for something other than
themselves? You tell me. What do we do now?
