Here's ya another topic, may or may not relate to the main forum.
Currently we are in some what of an economic crunch, well crash is
more like it. Why? Are we not the land of opportunity? Haven't folks
migrated to this once great nation of ours just for the chance to make
it big, earn their slice of the American pie? Our nation, quoted in
President Lincolns Gettysburg Address as " government of the people,
by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth", has
in fact, sadly perished. We have became a nation... "that is made of
politicians, by corporations, for increased wealth at the expense of
the little man." The common man has no chance of ever being elected to
government office since many do not have the PHD's, MA's or any of the
other type letter after their name, nor the extreme wealth that it
appears is a requirement for being nominated....Now back to our
program.
Before the attack on Pearl Harbor, America was dependent on foreign
trade. After Pearl Harbor we realized the importance of being a nation
dependent on itself. Our elected fatheads have since turned our
American jobs to other nations leaving many here jobless. Point of
fact, I like to purchase things made in the USA. Ever go to Wal-Mart
and shop only for items made in the USA? If it was not for Wally
World, China's economy would be worse than our own. We now borrow
money from China to buy oil from the Middle East. Our appliances are
now made by American companies in factories located in China, Korea,
Canada and Mexico. Anyone else see a trend, raise yer hand!!!! Who
made all of this possible? Our elected officials. Who makes over
$200,000 per year? Congress ! What for? Beats me, I sure do not see
one thing they do that is worth that type of payday. The Prez gets 4
million per year. For what? Screwing over the Congress and the
American public? Seems that way. Many communities here in southern
West Virginia do not have municipal water and sewer systems. The more
they mine and remove the tops of mountains, drill and frack the rock
for natural gas, the worse the well water supply gets. In Iraq, We The
People...have helped build war torn communities, hospitals, community
swimming pools,municipal water service, internet service, grocery
stores and shopping plazas. Funny how the USA government can not seem
to find the money needed to do this in poverty stricken areas of the
US.
I remember when the USA would get mad at another country for being
"mean", we would boycott them or stop trade into that country. Now, if
the world gets mad at the USA,,,as they already are, if they wanted to
seriously hurt the USA, they dont need to drop another airplane into a
building. Stop goods coming into the US, that would sure cripple us
badly, heck, Wal-Mart would go bankrupt in a matter of weeks.
I also remember back in the 70's when you could see those American
flag colored star stickers with the words, "Made with Pride in the
USA". Now when we outsource jobs, we are suppose to purchase American
products made in other countries with money we more longer have since
we lost our jobs to some Indian dude named Rajesh. And we wonder why
our economy is in such disarray.
Our elected officials need to understand one thing. Howard Hughes
once said to a Congressional hearing board, "You work for me Senator,
I don't work for you." Maybe, when either Hell freezes over or we
actually get tired of having to speak 5 different languages just to be
able to read the drive thru menu at McDonalds, we let our government
remember the words that were spoken by President Abraham Lincoln in
our nations worst days since the Revolutionary War.
