Hi. This looks like it is exactly the tool that I need, but I can't make it work (I fully expect it to be user error). Basically, I have an activity (a 10 mile run) where the initial GPS picked me up 500ft or so too far west. And the whole activity is 500ft too far west (it's a loop and finishes in the same wrong place). I essentially want to pick up and drag the activity 500ft to the east so it is in the right place. There are data points every second so there are a lot of them and I can't work out how to move it - the tool seems to think I'm trying to add new waypoints, not move the ones I have.

Am I missing something? Thanks, Colin

Hello Colin
There is unfortunately no way in WTracks to move more than one track point at a time. I'm afraid WTracks is not answering your needs.
Regards
Olivier

Hi Olivier - ah ok, no worries, and many thanks for responding. It's a great tool you've built. :-)

I'm actually looking at a way to add this new feature (moving a whole track). My issue is how to undo...
I might publish it in a couple of days.

FYI - seems like my issue may not be unique to me! So if you had a solution, it could potentially help many people...

I added the feature, but it is not perfect:
- There is no possible undo as for other edit operations (although one might move a track by mistake)
- When elevation has to be recomputed, only a subset of points are updated (updating all track points would be a very heavy operation on large tracks: many server requests possibly exhausting API credits, and recomputing of all estimated timings).

So for now I keep it experimental. You can activate it by using following URL:
You can then use the default URL. To deactivate it use
To drag, set edit mode (pen > broken line), and move mouse on track until you see pointing finger mouse icon, then click and and hold while you drag the track.
Do not hesitate to share feedback to understand if it works fine and answers the need.

Hi Olivier

I tried using the URL above, but I can't seem to make it work. My steps:
- clicked your link with drag=true
- loaded in my gpx file
- clicked the pen
- at this point, I can see 5 options below the pen - manual track (e), auto track (a), add segment, delete segment, add waypoint - so nothing with a broken line.
- I am unable to drag the route directly after clicking the pen, and none of the other options seems to give me the drag option.
Tried in Chrome and Edge.
Sorry if I've missed something obvious.
Colin

Hi
You should use manual edit. Here is how it should behave:
Can you see the mouse cursor change when you pass over the track line?

Ah, ok I see why you can do it and I can't - there is no gap between my data points. I've just saved an image of my run, zoomed into your closest zoom. There is no way I can see to click on something that isn't a data point. :-(

Ok. I suggest you delete a couple of points in a flat & straight line (where you should have a stable pace) to get access to the line. You may also use WTracks'  "Compress" tool.

Hi Olivier
Thank you so much! That worked absolutely perfectly, and I was able to delete the old activity and re-upload to Strava with all data points in the right place now. The drag/drop tool is perfect - from my end no bugs at all once I could get to the line.

Hi
I eventually moved the track dragging feature to a dedicated edit tool. This prevents dragging by mistake during manual track editing, and also avoids the issue you had with the point squares hiding the track line. It also better separates the edits which can be undone from the ones that can't.
Even if there still may be a few bugs, it is no more "experimental", so no need to be activated through "drag" URL parameter.
Cheers

I no longer need it, but just tried this out on a couple of activities, and it worked very smoothly and easily.
While looking for a solution, I have seen a couple of forums where people are trying to resolve issues with their activities (Garmin, Strava etc), so will point people your way (unless you prefer me not to!).
Thanks again.
