Founded in 1998 by John Marszalek and the late Michael Ballard of Mississippi State Univ, Historians of the Western Theater of the U. S. Civil War provides a forum for the informal sharing of information, ideas, and concerns among historians interested in the Western and Trans-Mississippi theaters.
