Running a single test

Is there a way to execute a single test or a group of tests? So far anything that I try causes all tests in tests/tests to be run.

I just ran across this same question in another post 'How to use htmlrunner in reporting instead of nose' where the answer was to use custom build scripts and shovel tasks (https://github.com/seomoz/shovel) to create the desired test runner.
