What it actually means is that it is capable of applying 40 ounces of lift at a distance of 1 inch from the pivot point.

I have two servos and I am trying to use them to control the pan and tilt on my camera (which only weighs 18.5 ounces) but I am having a hard time believing that these little servos are strong enough to move my camera. I am sure leverage is an issue.. Any ideas?
