Just wanted to give a heads up and let you know I won't be able to
stay for the ACM meeting Wednesday (02-08). Have a job interview :)

But, I wanted to clarify the time of the NetApp Talk.

Date: Feb. 20
Time: 2:00 pm or 2:30?

I will stop by the RSC in the morning and place the order for the
pizzas / drinks. I'll send out an update with the price, so Fasil can
pass it on to NetApp.

After this weekend's meeting with Kevin, I should have some updates
about the website, and whether or not we can access the original ACM
Google calendar. To provide more transparency and help keep events /
times / meetings / talks straight, I think it would be a good idea to
use this jQuery plugin in the ACM site: http://arshaw.com/fullcalendar/

Styling is no biggie, and it includes a special api for tying a Google
calendar so events are updated on the fly using ajax. (also events on
the calendar can be drag and droppable, which html5 has amazingly
started to allow as part of the new html standard).

Juby, can you add me to the share list when you create the meeting
minutes? I can't seem to access the most recent minutes, or maybe I'm
looking in the wrong places.

Fasil, nice job on the presentation. An idea I had was to ask students
what topics / information / talks would interest them, and make them
want to get interested in ACM? I think finding out what students are
interested in would be a great way to market this group in a more
targeted way, and also give us some ideas to play with and prepare.
It's an informational presentation I understand, but at the end of the
presentation it might be fun to poll the students to gauge general
interest in different branches of computer science - web development,
systems programming, dba, open source, windows/.net, specific
languages, development practices (agile, scrum, top-down, etc),
version control, all things Unix/Linux...

Rick:
Excellent job. Two points:
1. Using the JQuery Calender for the site is a good idea. Make sure to include licensing if you going to use it.
2. As per your suggestion, I will definitely add some discussion points on the presentation

Good luck on your interview!

Fasil,

Thank you for reminding me about licensing. The last thing we'd want
to do is get embroiled in a potential licensing problem.

The good news about Full Calendar is that it carries the MIT license.
It's so refreshing to read, that I feel like quoting the full text
would be interesting for others in this group that might not have read
it yet.

Yeah, the MIT license is about as free as it gets.
