We need to start thinking about the finals

 Player schwag.
I would like to approach 4dsicgolf about being the series final sponsor. For the first 100 @$10 qualifier shirts they would get exclusive rights for the series shirts. Every shirt after that we would split cost 50-50. The pitch is they would provide shirts with their logo on it then we would add series art.

Can anyone think of others who might be interested in this offer?

Series payout Solicit bids from
Chainbangerz, Depot, Mando's, Jack Rapid Fire, anyone else?

Trophies? We could get a 50 piece custom order
TD recognition?
Series final bag tag?

Also look into metal minis with the same etched wss logo on it or just a simple wss 2013 adv 13th or whatever. Talk to metal shops.

Jub, check with Disc Jock about the shirts.  I think they might like to bid on the shirts.  Call Jason Carver (509) 230-3327 or email ja...@shirtscribes.com

It seems like any vendors that have been associated with running this year's series events should be considered first.  If they're not interested then move on to other potential vendors.

That's stupid. More vendors bidding lower cost for the series. Open the bid to every company dynamic discs prodigy innova and locals. More is better

I can't remember where the series final is taking place.  I tried to figure it out on the dgnews forum and still couldn't figure it out.  The info may be available somewhere but it definitely needs to be more on the front page and easy to find.  The location of the series final would make a big difference to any potential vendors that we may be using for scrip (if that's what we're doing).  If we are just talking about buying product from a vendor to hand out at the finals then that's a different story.

That would be the cheapest way but we know about how this series likes to throw money in the garbage!

That's a bit harsh, but whatever...  I have no objection to opening up bidding to a larger audience of vendors.  I suppose what needs to be decided is are we going to enlist (pay) a vendor to scrip the series at the finals or are we going to just buy a bunch of stuff to give to players as prizes after the finals.  I do think that getting a lot of bids from many vendors is work that is unlikely to happen.

If all goes well our gross income for the series could be between $5200-$6000

I am working on a general cold call letter outlining our needs and goals for the series finals.

Shirts: $1000 budget
I think we will need between 120-150  this year. I would like to solicit for a series sponsor for these.

I am thinking for 100 shirts we would give exclusive rights to the qualifier shirts. The sponsor would purchase the shirts , a fix their logo, then send them to us to be series customized. 20-50 additional shirts would be split 50-50 at wholesale

I am also toying with the idea of making 1' by 4" iron on transfers with Player Initial, Last Name and PDGA # to be distributed at finals for players to do them, themselves.

Trophies $500
I am leaning towards 50 KC Pro avairs with series art (tree only) and customizing them with division and place decals.

Bag tags:$300
I hate the metal ones, they sound like a mechanized Armour division when the players attach them to their bags.  I would like a plastic version. We could possibility use the minis we already have

Net Am Payout  ~ $2500
I am leaning towards a wholesale order from a larger organization that can provide more then one manufactures products.
I don't think a huge Innova order is the way to go. I am also thinking we need to make sure we give everything away. With whatever series store is left after payout we should have a no charge raffle for qualifiers until it's all gone. Two ways either write qualifiers names on back of ticket (need not be present to win) or only attendees get second chance.

14 Start up $950
Finals fees =?
Kick back from vendor?
$500? left in bank

Kilmer has a little over $700 to be deposited
Battle owes ~$300

Depending on how many series disc are left  we would customizing them with division and place decals
.this is loser  first no $ markup on plastic but this does open it up for "clear blue sky" bookkeeping. now the trophies cost $9 but we can value them at $25

Bag tags:$175-$200
Little Flyers 150 pieces multi colored custom stamped try and get 5-7 one color for #1 tags, hand numbered

Net Am Payout  ~ $2500

If the event has not paid the series the points from that event should not count.  It is the only leverage that the series has to keep event organizers accountable.  It should be fair to all the events that have paid into the series.  The "points" is the pretty much the only benefit that the series gives to any event, if those are given with-out receiving payment they are worthless.

My 2 cents

I agree John but it's a fine line now Do we throw them under the bus? or do we nurse them along to try and get the fees?

Its not throwing anyone under the bus.  If they agreed to run a series event they are obligated to pay the fees.  If they choose to not pay the fees for their event, it is no longer a series event.  The whole payout is tainted/skewed if the points are allowed and there is no funds to back them up.  What is the roles were reversed, would it be considered "throwing you under the bus" if you accepted the fees and not award points and the TD told all the players?  If the TDs are not paid up by the finals, the points should not be counted.

Jub, whatever you if you decide to allow the points for non-paying tournaments or not, an announcement should be made publicly ASAP.

John we decided this really early. If we allow this now Dave Lowery will have a fit (rightfully so)

Battle has had 3 months and a stay of execution in respect for the forum mod's so I have no problem with him under the bus.

Meltdown is a little different. I know they way over spent and had to schedule payments to the pdga. I seriously doubt Bose will ever be allowed to run an event of the Meltdowns stature again so...

I figured we would make the announcement on Mon as we update the final points.

Now for some better news

shirts are ordered at $7.25 each pick up on Tue next week.

Yeah now back to the sausage
With the $450 out standing being half our nest egg What do we want to do? right now we have about $100 left not including finals fees. I am working on a spreadsheet. but in a nut shell

$5K  gross
$950 egg
$750 shirts
$1000 Open purse
$2200 Am purse

Jub,

I am glad that it was already decided earlier.  You could have saved yourself some grief and confusion and not allow the points from the two unpaid events to be displayed publicly.

Why are you inferring it would be "throwing someone under the bus" when the decision has been already made.  There should be no exception to the rule.  Especially for TDs who can not budget their finances.

I hope that the Nuke is now in process of being resolved…had a talk to marty cook and he is figuring it out (made phone calls etc).  He seems to be willing to put up the money if for some reason the TCDGC is not able to.
In talking to him there seems to be issues with leadership right now with people not living up to their billing ;)
