It has been brought to my attention that most all of our ladies will be in Portland the weekend of the finals.
How do we want to handle this?

WE could be firm and stick to the guidelines (mandatory finals). I believe that if we do this we willhave no ladies this year and probably no ladies next year either.
or
WE could offer our points to using their scores from Portland

Just the first thing to bounce off the wall…have not really thought about it just first reaction:

What about the ladies who planned on attending the finals and how will that relate if we let ladies at another event garner points.

My initial thought was to make it, for the ladies, a non mando finals but keep the point structure the same so those playing the finals are rewarded.  I don’t have a copy of the current qualifiers in front of me but how many are we talking about?

If no women sign up for the finals, it seems reasonable to pay-out the ladies according to the final standings.  I wouldn't count a non-series tournament towards their final score.  IMO If a single woman signs up for the final and is qualified for series points, she is the champion, as the rules were written.

2 of the possible 7 women that have a chance of qualifying for the Open Women title are signed up for the USWDGC.  Probably should not make a decision on this matter until it is known what the other 5 women are doing Sept 21-22.

I am pretty sure Jayme, Lesli and Kym are all going to Portland. Melody Bailey was who asked me in Yakima. This leaves Shelly.
I have no problem waiving the mandatory finals if 80% 0f our qualifiers efforts are sacrificed by wanting to attend a very special event

So, the entire Women's Masters field will be in Portland?  They haven't signed up yet for the USWDGC.  According to the most recent points update, Jayme, Lesli, and Kym have not officially qualified either.  Did they play in Yakima?  If they are qualified for series points, maybe give them their pay-out before they go to Portland, so they can enjoy this seasons efforts at a major event.

But the Women Open field is still up for grabs.

Now it's looking more like only one or two might have to choose.
 So now the political discussion

How do we want to handle the ladies
I am pretty sure we submitted our date first.
This is a very special national event that needs our support.  What was it three years ago the INWS final was the same as the USDGC I think it was Mike and Kyle who sacrificed their positions.

It has been suggested that

we drop the term "mandatory finals" from the guidelines so that our best Ladies can participate in a NT in Portland on the same weekend as our final

It has also been suggested that
we allow them to "let their points stand and see how they finish" Then paying accordingly.

I think it will be fine to handle the women's pro divisions separately because of this unique situation.  All the other divisions will need to stick to the original plan.  I'm not sure what exactly the best and most fair thing will be to do.  I'd like to look at all the details later this week and then offer on opinion about it.

would be okay with dropping the term mandatory for the ladies but still have the finals event  worth the extra points.  The only way, imho, to allow their score from another non series event to count would be if ALL the ladies who qualified are at the event and NONE were at the finals.

We are talking about a special circumstance so I have some flexibility.
