I had the privilege to chat it up with Kyle Smart during a local Ice Bowl and he brought up being bummed that division winners did not get baskets.

No way can we expect whom ever gets the bid to provide that...we are offering too many divisions to offer baskets to ALL non-open division winners.

I guess I am just starting the topic on what we are expecting from bids this year so that each club has plenty of time to decide if they wish to bid or not.

This was the biggest frustration by some players last year...namely division winners...besides getting previous stamped plastic...but I stand by that plastic is plastic  :)

But lets discuss this and make sure we beat it into the ground this year so there is no grey areas

Kyle
If you could post your ideas we can discuss all of them.

Here is what I remember
Grand Prizes for Am winners: One (division with largest overall particpation or qualifiers) or all of them?

Trophies: should we use leftover CFR's as trophies?
I have no problem with them they just come right off the top is all

Payout: Series store or sealed bid? Store requires inventory, storage, transportation and supervision.
I would rather see the series use the nest egg to lower and eventually drop per player fees all together. Last year was a good starting point. If we can generate $3600 off the $900 nest egg with a $2700 purse as the goal we could drop the fees all together.

This year our 100 disc fundraising effort (another point we need to decide) could generate as much as $2000 of the $3600

that leaves $1600 .$700 payout, $900 for 2014 this reflects absoultly no per player fee yet.

Should we lower the per player or collect it and use it to support DG in the State.
Lower Fee should increase attendance by directly increasing payout
DG Support: Like Paving the Way it would be in our best interest to contribute at this level back to any projects like it across the state.
We could also look into being the place for funding to replace stolen baskets

Other ideas for fundraising
Basket  Toss Insurance
Actual basket toss /qualifiers and financial goals (10 qualifiers/$100)
Series  Final raffle + basket toss for nest egg

Series Trophies
We have a disc golfer (well the tri cities does) with a trophy shop that may be willing to do trophies at a reduced fee (Ken Wood)  Also there is a guy in Pendleton that his dad has a custom engraving shop and has made awesome stuff for their club...and has extended the offer to others.  I think we could do trophies for top three in each division of more than say 10 qualifiers.  First only in the other divisions.

Payout- If the series does payout are we going to offer the discs at below retail price levels...if we did that technically Innova could be mad at us...hey just read my papers they sent me :) with current pricing etc.  Of course we could get around it by just having retail prices but paying out more phony money.  However it is a risky situation in terms of having enough options and enough discs with each disc remaining being a frozen asset that will not thaw for some time.
Could we use the custom money to buy three baskets...one sport and one traveler, and one mini?  Then the three largest non pro divisions could get a basket.  I personally like the bid idea and if i was hosting the finals would be thrilled to bid on it...depending on any requirements that we may add.  What would help with the bid this year is knowing that last year that $X of scrip was paid out and we project....depending on how the series is going.

Player Fees:  I have not spoke to a single person not playing an event over series fees.  I do know a few that will not play certain events do to club fees, course fees, TD fees, etc being compounded on top of the expected fees of Series and PDGA(talk abut robbery).

On a different note how much would it cost to be the state series sponsor and what would they get?
