Olympia, WA – 11 March 2010:   On Sunday April 11, the World Sacred Music Festival proudly presents the Al-Andalus Ensemble in a concert fusing music from and inspired by Andalusian Spain with contemporary flamenco dance.

The first in the Festival’s new quarterly series, this concert will celebrate through music and dance the interfaith connections that existed and still exist in Spain between Africa, the East, and the West, as well as among Christians, Muslims, and Jews.

Entitled “Seeds of Peace,” the concert finds unifying themes in the world’s music cultures, marrying East and West as well as classical and world music genres. Al-Andalus Ensemble founders Tarik Banzi (oud) and Julia Banzi (flamenco guitar) join with Grammy winner Charlie Bisharat (violinist for Alanis Morissette, The Rolling Stones, Jane's Addiction, Yanni, and others); Basque contemporary-flamenco dancer Laura Dubroka (in her first visit to the United States), and multi-lingual vocalist Emily Miles to create an emotive tapestry of sight and sound.

This concert is made possible with the support of Interfaith Works and KAOS 89.3 fm Community Radio. Now in its sixth year, the Festival is a showcase for musicians from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond, all part of our world’s rich spiritual tapestry. The Festival’s concerts provide a rare opportunity to experience the music, dance, and culture of diverse sacred traditions.

The concert takes place at the Capitol Theater in downtown Olympia; tickets are $25 or $15 for low-income individuals, available at the door or online at www.BuyOlympia.com.
