President - Elect:  Western Society for Kinesiology and Wellness

Oral Presentation Formats

Oral Presentation: Research papers, projects, or other scholarly activities may be presented as oral presentations and subsequently submitted to the Western Society Review in the Journal of Kinesiology and Wellness for publication the following year.

Round Table: A moderator briefly presents the issue and open discussion immediately follows. This is a traditional format from which WSKW sessions were built.

Panel: A selection of panelists with expertise or insight on a topic proceeds as follows:  Topic > Concept > Positions > Discussion > Reflection.

Hot Topic: A hot topic in kinesiology or wellness can be presented in either an Oral
Presentation, Round Table, or Panel format.  This year's hot topic is: “Free Inquiry:  Catalyst for the Advancement of Kinesiology.”

Please submit all oral presentation abstracts using the attached submission form to brett...@yahoo.com.

Poster Presentation Formats

Professional Posters: This is a vehicle for professionals to present original research, projects, or other scholarly work in a poster format.

Please submit all Professional Poster presentation abstracts using the attached submission form to brett...@yahoo.com.

Student Posters: The R. D. Peavy Papers provide a forum for students to present refereed works at the WSKW conference in poster format. Undergraduate students are encouraged to present a poster of either original work or other written work. Robert D. Peavy is Professor Emeritus of Washington State University and he regularly attends WSKW to support the students who participate in these sessions. It is a great venue for future professionals to discuss their work, learn, and network.

Please submit all Student Poster presentation abstracts using the attached Peavey Paper Guidelines form to kjoh...@unm.edu.

Young Scholar Presentation

The Dr. G. Arthur Broten Young Scholars Recognition Program provides an opportunity for young professionals (typically those with a newly-minted Ph.D.) to give an oral presentation based on professional papers or dissertations relevant to kinesiology and wellness. Questions about Young Scholar qualification criteria and submissions can be directed to Pete Van Mullem at pwvan...@lcsc.edu.

Paper Publication

Journal of Kinesiology and Wellness: WSKW members and non-members are encouraged to submit professional papers relevant to kinesiology and wellness for review and publication in the Journal of Kinesiology and Wellness. Presenters from the 2013 conference also are encouraged to submit papers based on their presentations for publication in the Western Society Review in the JKW. The journal will be published each year at the time of the WSKW Conference. Questions or submissions for JKW should be directed to Jane Shimon at jsh...@boisestate.edu.
