Greetings!
Please accept this email as the official Call for Papers for the 2014 R. D. Peavy Papers. The R. D. Peavy Papers sessions are intended to serve undergraduate students who wish to professionally participate in WSKW. Undergraduate students are encouraged to submit review-based and original works that will be evaluated by a trained team of student referees. Based on an evaluation, submissions may be accepted for publication in the R. D. Peavy Papers proceedings and student authors will be invited to present during specific poster sessions at the annual Western Society of Kinesiology and Wellness conference in Reno, NV on October 8-10, 2014. Additionally, the top abstracts from each category may be asked to deliver a special presentation in a separate, stand-alone session.
ABSTRACT FORMATS
There are four types of abstracts that can be submitted. Each is unique and has specific instructions and evaluation criteria that can be found on the WSKW website (they are also attached in a .ZIP file for ease of reference).
1. Research Critique – a one-page student review and critique of one previously published peer-reviewed research article
2. Literature Review – a one-page student review and synthesis of 3-5 previously published peer-reviewed research articles that have a common topic/theme
3. Original Research – a two-page document that details original research completed by the student or a team of students
4. Original Project - a two-page document that details original project completed by the student or a team of students
ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS
In order to submit an abstract, please follow all of the directions for the type of abstract and save as a Word document. When saving, please follow this file naming convention:
Last Name, First Initial (with a single space separating) – Type of Submission
Example: Ulbright J – Research Critique
Documents should then be emailed directly to Justin Ulbright at julb...@whitworth.edu no later than June 15, 2014 (please avoid submitting Peavy Papers abstracts through the WSKW website). Once received, you will receive a reply to confirm. Professors and mentors, you may batch-send these if you like, but all documents need to comply with the naming convention. Students are encouraged to send abstracts individually to more closely mirror the professional submission process.
Submissions will be accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected. Initial notifications will be sent out by the end of July. If accepted with revisions, students will have until September 1 to reply with revisions.
Questions or clarification requests should be sent directly to Justin Ulbright at the email address above.
Thanks and be well,
