Happy Monday everyone!

Can you all share with me how your institution makes students aware of their financial responsibility? Is it at the time of admission? Or registration? And/or when they log into your student's portal?

How often do you make them agree to it?

We are getting ready to roll out year round registration here at LCC and one of the questions that arose was when student's should be made aware and agree to the charges they incur upon registering for classes.

Thanks for you inputs!!

Hi Lisa,

At Portland State University the financial terms & conditions are part of the OAM process when the student initially sets up their email, they have to agree to our terms & other policies. I believe it is renewed at least annually or anytime a password is reset. (I'm not with PSU anymore but set it up with IT that way).

Thanks,
Amanda

Good Morning Lisa,

Here at WGU a student must agree to our financial policy in order to enroll in their courses (this may be easier for us as we are a 100% online).  If a student does not agree they cannot enroll in their courses.

Throughout their term our system will automatically place the student on a financial hold and continue to notify them for 30 days until 1) balance is SIF 2)financially cleared with other funding or payment plan enrollment or they get submitted for a non-payment withdrawal.  We contact them via student account notification, text messages, email and a phone call.

If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Yes, each term there is pop that states “if you agree to the financial and academic policy click REGISTER”  They have to select register in order to move forward in their term.

Thank you all for your responses! This has been very helpful. We are rolling out year long registration and trying to determine how often students should have to agree to the financial responsibility.
