refunds for deceases students (20 yrs)

Hello!

Does your college have a clear process/guideline when issuing refunds to deceases students whose tuition was paid for by a family member and does not have a parent designated as main contact?

When I look it up, it looks like we should be issuing a refund to the Estate of... but thought I would check to see if any of your institutions have a process. The student was only 20 years old and did not list a parent's full name on their FAFSA.

We issue those types of cash/check payment refunds back to the student with a "Estate of"  in front of the name.   CC refunds go back to the CC that was used to pay the tuition/fees.   If we have a legal document naming a trustee, we can send it to them.

Hello, 

We get the contact information from the person who has provided the death certificate of the student, usually the parent's information. 

Once that information is confirmed, we process a check request to send the refund back to the parent.
