Attached is an overview of proposed Massachusetts Emergency Assistance reform based on Governor Patrick’s 2012 budget recommendations.  The slides are particularly interesting…shifting from the current  77% of resources allocated to the traditional emergency shelter/motels to 14%...with new specialized shelter programs, diversion and rapid rehousing/flexible cash assistance, including 27% of the budget for a specialized program for Young Parents.

 

I thought this might be of interest to WSCH members.  I think this state-wide proposal is suggestive of change that could also be made on the local level.
