LaborTECH 2010 Focusing On Using New Technology From Streaming Channels To Cell Phones For Labor Struggles/Education

The December 2010 LaborTech conference held at the University of San Francisco on December 10, 11 & 12th  will be showing how
trade unions and the labor movement can use new communication technology to break the information blockade.
Some of the highlights of the conference will be on how unions, locally, regionally and internationally can develop
live streaming channels to program their rallies, education meetings and solidarity events.
As part of the conference, there will be an international day of action for Coke bottling workers of SINALTRAINAL
with live actions in Turkey, Belgium and other countries on December 11, 2010 and a live report from Colombia trade unionists.
Similar national and  international days of actions can be streamed worldwide on many other labor battles taking place.
There will also be workshops on how to use cell phones to stream your videos and texting to get your messages out.
Mobile Organizing Education/IDEPSCA Mobile Voices from Los Angeles are training immigrant and migrant workers
to get their stories out on cell phones and this can be replicated for union issues and struggles. Cell phone organizing
is an important new tool that offers potential for reaching workers in an company, industry both nationally and internationally.
Some speakers from the US include ILCA chair Steve Stallone, Frank Emspak, founder of www.laborradio.org, Steve Dondley,
Promethius Labor Productions, Alice Sunshine, CFA Communications Director, Peter B. Collins from AFTRA and James Dalessandro
of WGA-West. There will also be a short screening of labor film maker Joan Sekler's "Locked Out" about the ILWU Rio Tinto Lockout
in Boron, California.
There will be trade union communicators from Turkey, Australia and Trinidad and this conference will also be streamed live at

video and media to confront the issues labor faces.

Join The International Day Of Solidarity With Colombian Coke Workers On December 11, 2010

On December 11, 2010 there will be a worldwide day of action in solidarity with the COKE workers in Colombia represented
by our union SINALTRAINAL. We urge supporters and trade unionists throughout the globe to join this day of action by protesting
at COKE offices, COKE distributors and Consulates of Colombia  around the world to demand justice for the Coca-Cola bottling workers in Colombia.
We have faced rapes, kidnaps and murders of our members and their families. We are also supporting the international campaign to'
free jailed trade unionist Rosalba Gaviria Toro who is a member of FENSUAGRO, the Colombian Agricultural Workers' Trade Union.

Special Guests Honeywell Metropolis, Illinois locked out  USW  7-669 members  Stephen Lech and James Childers  At LaborTech Saturday Night Event

Today in Metropolis, Illinois 230 USW 7- 669 Honeywell nuclear processing workers have been locked out of their jobs at this plant since June 28.
Stephen Lech and James Childers are activists and  leaders of this fight and will speak about the fight for health and safety, their issues
and how working people and the public can defend their fight for justice. The US government and health and safety oversight agencies so far  have
allowed the  Honeywell CEO David Cote to manipulate health and safety laws to allow untrained scabs to run the highly dangerous plant.
Already there have been accidents and releases of toxins in the environment.
