TWSC Opposes Concession Bargaining and Union Busting Against SF Transit Workers
SF 11/26/2010 Rally To Protest Union Busting Against TWU 250 Members and Concession Bargaining

The Transport Workers Solidarity Committee calls for an end to concession bargaining
which is being pushed by many top union officials in San Francisco and throughout the
United States. The idea that unions can defend the workers by giving up defined
pensions for newly hired workers, allowing two tiers and many other concessions is
dangerous and a threat to all working people. This trend must be reversed and
Muni bus drivers are leading the way.
The San Francisco Labor Council leadership and the chair of the
Public Workers Committee Bob Muscat not only collaborated with the union busting
Mayor Gavin Newsom to make concessions but demanded that TWU 250A Muni bus
drivers make major concessions as part of their "deal" with the politicians.
SF TWU 250A muni drivers voted concession down three times. YET, this same
union leadership refused to fight Proposition G which eliminated protections and
benefits for SF Muni workers. The sellout union officials were angry that the TWU 250A drivers had the
backbone to say no more concessions. So they joined with the Mayor and the union busters
in their effort to blame the drivers for the economic crisis.
At the same time we call for the defense of SF TWU250A activists who have been
targeted by the MTA management for their defense against these concessions
and against proposition G. We call for all transit workers and all of labor to demand an end
to the union busting actions against these drivers and to launch a united defense against
against concessions.
On November 26, 2010 at 9:00 AM at SF City Hall there will be a protest to defend
SF TWU 250A Drivers and to demand an end to concession bargaining.
Please join this rally.
