January 7th, 2011 is the one year anniversary of the day our Contract became amendable. Eight years, eight days ago we took deep cuts in pay as United Airlines entered bankruptcy. During the bankruptcy more cuts were made to our pay, healthcare, work rules, and our pensions were terminated. Our Contract required an early start to negotiations, April 6, 2009, with the intention of getting a new Collective Bargaining Agreement in place as soon as possible. But, management’s negotiations stance remains and continues to be one concessionary proposal after another, and their tactics of delay…delay….delay has gone on far too long.
It is time for the improvements we need and compensation that represents our value to the new United Airlines. We were forced to sacrifice to help save our company for a defined period of time, that time is now well past. We did our part, now it is time for management to get serious and work with us in a meaningful way. Join the picket line at airports around the world on January 7th to stand in solidarity with your flying partners for a new Contract Now! March the picket line in full uniform and stand up for what’s right. Whatever It Takes!
