Discuss officer elections:
I. President
Must be a non-immigrant (F-1 or J-1 student)
Maintains an overall grade point average of 2.5 or higher;
Must be a sophomore or higher who can complete a full term of
office;
Has overall responsibility for activities of the WSA;
Insures the WSA is in accordance with the constitution and by-laws;
Is the official spokesperson for the WSA;
Proposes agenda for each meeting;
Leads all executive and general meetings;
May call emergency meetings when necessary to address immediate
concerns and needs;
Promotes harmony within the organization;
Serves as official representative of international students and
scholars on University committees;
Coordinates activities related to elections;
Coordinates overall organization of WSA;
Attends all activities coordinated by the WSA or appoints a
designated officer when unavailable to attend;
II. Vice-President
Maintains an overall grade point average of 2.50 or higher;
Assumes duties of President in his/her absence;
Oversees and is responsible for membership and financial reports and
insures that both are maintained properly;
Represents WSA at various forums as assigned by President or
Executive Board;
Services as committee coordinator to insure all programs and
activities are on schedule and are being handled properly and reports
to the President;
Serves as signator for student account.
III. Secretary
Maintains an overall grade point average of 2.50 or higher;
Maintains attendance records at all meetings and events;
Takes notes and produces minutes of all meetings to be made
available to the membership before the next meeting;
Serves as WSA historian by maintaining scrapbook of activities;
Attends to official WSA correspondence as necessary;
Informs appropriate campus offices of any changes to the
Constitution;
Produces a written summary of all activities.
IV. Treasurer
Maintains an overall grade point average of 2.50 or higher;
Maintains accurate records and is held accountable for WSA’s
finances;
Monitors WSA’s accounts;
Develops, in consultation with the Executive Board, the WSA’s
university funding proposal;
Pays WSA’s bills and collects and deposits revenues into WSA
accounts;
Oversees collection and records membership dues payment;
Prepares and submits monthly-quarterly-yearly financial statements
to the Vice-President and give a financial report at all business
meetings;
Responsible for writing receipts for all money transactions and
turning receipts over to International Scholar & Student Services;
Serves as signator for the student account;
Submits budget proposal to ISSS advisor prior to events.
