Hi All,

I am very new to usage of the WS4D library.
I want to develop a client using WS4D library which can initiate the
scan request
on a printer.
I have already installed the WS4D library set upon windows XP with
Visual studio 2008 as the IDE.
I know the interface functions which the client needs to call on the
server.

Can some body provide me any pointers regarding how to develop the
client?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Priya,
I'm sorry, but implementing a scanner client is new territory. Usually ws4d-gsoap can used to implement the device side of the scanner, printer or beamer spec. But the client side is normally part of Windows (of course not XP). So you have to go the way as described in the airconditioner tutorial http://trac.e-technik.uni-rostock.de/projects/ws4d-gsoap/doxygen/stable/html/tutorial_page.html?path=%2Fvar%2Ftrac%2Fws4d-gsoap%2Fdoxygen%2Fstable%2Fhtml%2Ftutorial_page.html

You should use the WSDL provided by MS as starting point to create the stub code to implement the client. I think there will be a lot of testing work, as devices always are implemented to support the client implemented in Windows (starting from Windows 7). So there may be a lot of undocumented behavior you have to implement.

But I can guide you.

Regards,
Elmar

Hi Elmar,

Thanks for your response.
I will try to use WSDL by micrososft.
One more question I need to develop this client to work for Linux
machines too.
Is it possible?

Thanks!
Best regards,
Priyanka
