Whycan't I add a new editing Template in Field Maps Designer? I have added a new item to a field's List, updated that layer's Symbology in the web map, but then it does not automatically appear in Field Maps Designer, and I can't figure out how to add it manually.

I have a couple bonkers work arounds, one of which includes open in Web Map classic, which kills my newer symbols... Seems like this should be possible in Field Maps Designer so I must be missing something.

Yup, this is pretty much exactly what I do! I usually open the layer in a new, blank, Map Viewer Classic and do the update there. Sometimes it will ruin the symbology at the layer level, which I don't love as I often use the same layers across multiple maps. In those cases, I can go back to my original, untouched, "new version" Map Viewer map as save the layer that is in there to get the symbology back to the layer level.

I just have to believe there's a way to do it in the new Map Viewer or Field Map Designer... @JeffShaner, sorry yours is the only name I know from reading blog posts (also just randomly tried to use @ and was surprised to see it worked!). Any insights on this?

Hi folks! You should be able to access the template! It will exist just like a normal project does and will have Template written beside it in the project header. You can find it just like any other project in search and edit it as such.

Hi Community! I'm trying to make the transition from how CC handles templates compared to my former email tool. I understand how the process starts out by creating an email - generically, no real content - and then saving that as a template. Got it. When I wanted to update my template, here's what I did: 1. Create a new email from the saved template 2. Edit the "email" 3. Save the "email" 4. Use the "Save as Template" to get it into the list of (my) saved templates 5. Find the previous version of the now updated template 6. Delete the previous version of the template Is that how you manage template updates in CC?

You'd need to edit the master template from the campaigns screen in order to actually edit it. Once your edit has been made, you'd need to re-save it as a template. You'd want to alter its name slightly - something like "Master Template - Updated March 31, 2023" so you can keep track of these differences. If you're absolutely sure you do not want one of the previous iterations, you can delete the older version from your saved templates: Create > Email > Saved Templates > three dots menu for the older version > Delete.

If you have a Reusable / Master Template, and you're needing to make lasting edits to it - updating the physical address of your organization, updating the links to your website or social media, updating logo, etc. - you can just edit the template on its own.

Would you please expound upon your statement "you can just edit the template on its own."? What exactly do you. mean by that? Is there a menu option to navigate to Templates > Edit that I'm not seeing?

I am NOT doing the "Save as Template" step again because that will create a new copy of the template. Based on your previous reply, I'm thinking that I shouldn't have to do the "Save as Template" again.

Based on your previous reply, my expectation was that by simply editing the template and saving the change, any subsequent emails that I create from that saved template will have the most recent updates. That's not what I'm seeing.

I agree with Saratoga. The fact that we can't update an existing template and need to re-save a new version each time it's edited renders the whole custom template function not useful. At that point, why not just copy your last email and go from there?

For my organization, templates need to be updated often to include new sponsor information in the footer. It makes more sense to simply copy the last email we sent out that includes the updated footer, rather than having to save that email as a new template.

This is ridiculously hard and not intuitive. I am not a happy customer. Constant Contact created a template for us but we have no way to edit it. There should be a very easily identifiable way to edit an existing template. I go to create, email and I all I see are the emails that were created before. There is absolutely no indication anywhere of a master template.

If we created a template for you, it would simply exist in your Campaigns as a draft, and would include "Created By Constant Contact" in the name, unless you explicitly changed it to something else. We also keep a backup copy for restoration and copying in case you overwrite the original.

If you need to edit a Draft status campaign, you can simply click it's name or select the Edit option from its menu, or simply click the big Edit button on the side. If you need to copy a Draft status email, simply select the Copy option from its menu. If the email is in Sent status, then Copy will be the button on the side.

Additionally, you need to explicitly save a template that's been created in your account - whether that's from us creating one or you creating one - as a reusable template. It won't show on your template selection screen when creating a new email, until you've done so. Please see our articles on reusable templates for step-by-step instructions and visual guidance on using them:

Hey all i know it may seem like a silly question, im new to civil3d and everything but i was just wondering how exactly do i go abouts editing a particular template. I initially opened up the .dwt file and that went straight to civil3d and i made the changes that were required. however upon saving and everything it didnt change the actual template in anyway.

Note that if you turn on Master View in Prospector, you can see all your drawing templates. You can right-click on a template here and select "Open", and it will open the DWT file directly, rather than create a DWG file from the DWT. Similarly, in the Open dialog box, you can change the "File Type" to "Drawing Template" and open your DWT that way, as well.

As another note, you can run into some weird issues from time to time if you open drawings from Windows Explorer. It's safer to open the drawings from within C3D, as opposed to opening them via Windows Explorer - or at least, you have less chance of running into headaches.

I am looking for a way to create a document template in dropbox sign and easily swap out the underlying document. The document that is the exact same format but we prepopulate user specific information. We use this document semi-regularly so I don't want to have to manually place the signature box every time we need to have it signed.

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried replicating this on Chrome and Safari on my Mac, and then Safari on my iPad. Also tried it in Standard and Private Browsing. All tests returned the same error as I mentioned before.

Then I tried creating a new template. Both the Replace and New document buttons worked correctly, but only while the template was unsaved. Once I saved the template and then went back into edit it, it stops working and I get the same issue - with document title listed in red with no preview. I've included a pic of this below.

We work with 500 people in our enterprise structure.

This includes 20+ workspaces, i.e. 20 teams.

Each team needs different columns, for which we use templates.

When these templates are created however, they cannot be edited after creating.

I am also interested in a feature to edit templated columns. We work in an organization that continually changes names making column templates almost useless for us. If we had the ability to edit the templated column that would then filter to all the boards using those columns that would save SO much time! I can see this thread is over a year old, is this a feature request already?

thanks,

Kari M

Hey, this seems like it should be easier but I cant figure this out for the life of me. I am making a portfolio similar to the one from the tutorial. I have build the basics of my project template, but now I need to put different info into all my projects etc. If I change something in the template its changing them for all the projects. I tried creating combo classes, no dice. I want to edit for example the insight at the bottom of the appetude Projects Template Page, without this new text populating on all the other pages. Halps!
