Just wrote this seconds ago! Poem Volcanic Eruptions Jill for Thursday December 8 2022

VERY similar to what others have written. Perhaps too much so,

 so it may be trite.

I am hoping the last 3 lines are original enough to not just make this "more of the same,"

but they may NOT be enough to "redeem" this. And please- I value honesty, not false praise.

I just wrote this seconds ago. Jill

 Volcanic Eruptions

 

The earth is waking up,

scratching its shoulder blades,

stretching its limbs,

shedding old skin,

vomiting lava,

spitting up fire and rocks

in dazzling pyrotechnics,

then settling down

for a nice long twenty-

or fifty-year nap, before

it twitches and rumbles,

heaving itself up once again

to disrupt our world

which is perched

so haphazardly

on the thin crust

of earth’s deep sleep.
