So, basically, my poem is using "microscope's eye" to REFER to the EYE PIECE.  Jill!

The structural components of a microscope are used to hold and support the instrument and its parts. The optical components are used to magnify and view the images of the specimens.

That is very useful information. I especially like the diagram.

Matt and I have had microscopes wherever we lived since we have been together. He uses them quite a bit to identify insects for his collections (he selects insects found already dead; he doesn't kill them). Or when he is working on his model train layout; he makes a lot of his own scenery and train parts.

So I'm pretty familiar with a microscope. Plus I used them in high school biology and physiology and years later in all my college science classes. I think your use of the microscope in the poem worked very well.
