Hello,

My name is Bryan W. Alaspa and I am a writer living in Chicago. My
third novel, Dust, is now available in print for the first time.

I am a real person here. And I really want to get the word out. I am
hoping that if you subscribe to this newsgroup you will help me in that

endeavor. I am publishing this book myself and need to promote the
book myself.

The novel is called "Dust." It tells the story of one smal town, over
the course of a single day, and what happens when the horrible secret
the town has been hiding for years is discovered. The results are
explosive, to say the least.

It is a powerful, action-packed, and emotionally-wrenching book. It is

one I am quite proud of.

Please, visit my website at www.bryanalaspa.com and follow the links to

purchase your own copy of "Dust." I can be reached via my e-mail
address. I would love to know what you think and please contact me
with any questions.

If you happen to work in a form of media, or own a bookstore. Please
also feel free to contact me and we can set up a time to do a story or
arrange for copies of the book to be made available.

So, visit www.bryanalaspa.com

Check out "Dust."

Let me know what you think!

Sincerely,
Bryan W. Alaspa

Hi Bryan, I understand your desire to sell your book, but I am
concerned with your choosing this group as a medium. This group is
meant to be a safe place for writers to discuss writing, share their
stories and support eachother. This doesn't mean I don't support
discussions on the sales of books or short stories, however I don't see
much opportunity for discussion about your book or your experiences
writing your novel.

If you have any questions about the content in this group, please feel
free to ask.

Yeah, this seems kinda spammy to me. I mean, you don't see me plugging
my novel-in-progress at http://multipets.blogger.com, do you?

I think plugging our own work is a good thing, perhaps even necessary. But I feel that there is a difference between advertising our own stories that we make publicly available to each other, and asking people to go out and purchase a novel. But this makes me curious. How many people have stories published, either professionally, or personally like Nicholas' multipets?

I have tried, but never published.

I agree, when I started reading the post I thought cool, someone in
Chicago wants to write with us, but then when I saw that he just wanted
to advertise his book it seemed pretty inappropriate. He could have at
least posted a sample to make it look like he was interested in sharing
writing with a group.

I have "published" a group of autobiographical stories to friends and
family, but that's about it. :)
