Hi,

I wanted to add some new web addresses to the lookup tool. Here's what
I did:

Added three URLS to the end of this array:

URLArray=Array("http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/",_
"http://www.google.com/search?q=define%3A",_
"http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=",_
"http://www.askoxford.com/results/?view=searchresults&freesearch=",_
"http://dict.tu-chemnitz.de/dings.cgi?lang=en&query=",_
"http://word.sc/",_
"http://www.britannica.com/bps/search?query=",_
"http://www.quotationsbook.com/search/quotes/?term=",_
"http://www.dictionary.reference.com/browse/",_
"http://www.thesaurus.reference.com/browse/",_
"http://www.reference.com/browse/"

Then added 3 items to the end of this line:

ListBoxArray=Array("Wikipedia (En)", "Cambridge Dictionaries Online",_
"Google Define", "WordNet", "Ask Oxford", "BEOLINGUS",_
"Word Source Dictionary", "Word Source Thesaurus", "Confusing Words",
"Encyclopedia Britannica", "Quotations Book", "Dictionary.com",
"Thesaurus.com", "Reference.com")

What I'm trying to add is dictionary.com, thesaurus.com and
reference.com.

When I highlight a word and click Writer's Tools - Lookup Tool, these
new additions do not appear as choices in the listbox. Also the prompt
that begins "Select" is cut off in the listbox. I was following the
proc in the User's Guide called "Tweak Lookup Tool."

Also, I would like these 3 choices to pick up the highlighted word
from the OO document so that I don't have to type it in. I think I had
all this working in the past. I think it all got trashed when I
upgraded to Writer's Tools 1.3.9. Is that possible?

I've also been working on getting the email backup to work on both my
desktop and laptop. It does work now, but could I have messed up the
Lookup Tool in the process?

I'm seriously confused! :-)

What could be the problem? TIA.

Hi Jaina,

The modifications look OK to me, although the array is missing a
parentheses at the end. It should be as follows:

I tried your modifications on my copy of Writer's Tools, and
everything works just fine. The three new references added at the very
end of the drop-down list, so you have to scroll down to see them.

Well, they should pick up the highlighted word by default. Where else
would you type the word in?

Not likely.

To the staggeringly stupendous scribes who shaped WriterTools so
spectacularly,

This is gonna be an unproductive comment which, for the most part, I
try only to post questions or an answer. To the OP, I'm not trying to
hijack your thread.

I just downloaded and installed OpenOffice and your WriterTools
extension and I have to say that the stock fuctionality of OO.o3 is
wonderful but your extension is absolutely ridiculously awesome and
has made me turn my back on Word 2003. I haven't had a chance to play
with the other programs but I can honestly say that in a matter of 30
minutes you and your extension changed a lifetime of hesitant yet
obedient serfdom to the ever-present Microsoft and her silica clad
hand of despotism and greed.

Long live OpenOffice and especially WriterTools. If you (the creator
(s) of WT) were next to me right now I would give ya' the biggest,
most cuddliest bear hug you could ever imagine.

Love you so long time WriterTools inventors. Love you soooo long time.

This is very strange. Try to reinstall Writer's Tools. Also, what's
your system and OpenOffice.org version?

Not context menus, but you can assign keyboard shortcuts to them. The
attached screenshot should give you an idea how to do that.

Games? What version of Writer's Tools do you use? The newer versions
of the extension come without game. Anyway, you can't just delete
macros, but you can use the Basic Addon Builder tool
(http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/BasicAddonBuilder)
to remix Writer's Tools. The Writer's Tools manual (link in the
signature) explains how to do that.
