Here I was using Windows 7 'split screen' function where two documents
can take exactly 50% of the screen each. On the right was a group Word
doc I was editing with others on line. On the left was the same doc in
Writemonkey that I had jump-marked for quick and easy navigation to
each section for which I was responsible. I could toggle WM from 50%
to full screen easily as it remembered each position. When I attempted
the same thing in Word I had to manually set up the 50% screen again
afterwards.

Text I wanted to take out from earlier drafts but perhaps save for
another section or document was easily highlighted and moved to the
repository with the CTRL + M command. No such thing exists in Word.

When I was happy with my sections I just clipped and pasted them into
the group Word doc. Most importantly I had much more fun in the Zen
ware mode of WM with my own customized setups of color and sounds for
the different environments in which I work - dim or diffusely lit
libraries, noisy cafés, train journeys etc. My trusty Thinkpad and a
pair of earbuds and I am good to go. Hey, even this post is written
first in WM before pasting on to forum.
All of which got me to thinking: How do YOU use Writemonkey?

I like the F3 feature, that lets you peek underneath for a quick
glance at your research papers (I use ConnectedText for that) or
whatever is right underneath Writemonkey.

Another thing I got totally addicted to: Ctrl Shift N to start a new
document with the contents of the clipboard. I use it all the time.
Ctrl A select a topic in ConnectedText, then switch to WM, Ctrl Shift
N. I have jump-marks defined that let me navigate to CT-headings
(==heading2== instead of ##heading2) and I do all the heavy lifting in
WM, then Ctrl A select all, and paste it back into CT.

Other favorites: the repository and the whitenoise background sounds,
the saveable templates to quickly switch the background/text colors
according to mood and lighting conditions.

Those are some great ideas. I haven't got into using markdown
protocols for headings but your use for them sounds like something I
could use (if I understand it better!)That 'Ctrl-shift-N' command
sounds like a great idea. I will be using that one in the future.

Another things I love and use all the time but didn't mention was the
replacements funtion. When writing about a certain technical subject I
know I am going to using certain terms over and over again so having
those set up to be triggered with a quick key combination is a life
saver.
The 'Ctrl-M' command to move selected text to the repository doesn't
appear to be able to be used in reverse for text selected in the
repository to be moved back to the cursor position in the main page. I
often use the repository for chunks of text I know I will use
somewhere later but don't want clogging up the main page.
I know there is a Tips and Tricks page but this thread could be good
for people to not only list a certain function but WHY they use it and
like it so much. That is, to give some context about their thinking
and ways of working.
