1. Is there any way to use the scroll bar in a normal click-and-drag
fashion?
2. Can I disable the margins on the left and right side of the text?
(even if I set text column width to maximum, I get about an inch of
empty space on both sides)
3. Is there a shortcut to reset the zoom level controlled by shift
+scroll wheel?

1. You can use "blind scrolling" -> Hold ALT and drag move mouse left or right of the text area. You can alternately click&hold top or bottom half of the screen for normal scrolling, hold CTRL for page up / down scrolling ...
2. No. Why is the empty space bothering you?
3. No. But you can use CTRL+ALT+up/down do set the zoom level. Also experiment with CTRL + mouse wheel ...

1. Oh, that's brilliant! Thank you.
2. One of the advantages of a minimalistic word processor, to me, is
that I often work with one program while referencing another, and keep
both their windows open. If there were no margins, then Write Monkey
could display more text, even when I resize the window to, say, the
bottom-right corner of my screen. I admit, though, that the difference
would not be enormous.
3. I would prefer a button or mouse combination which reset the zoom
instantly. My issue is sort of an OCD thing where I might play around
with the zoom, and then desire to get the zoom level back to default,
but never be sure whether I quite got it there. But I again admit that
it's not a big deal.

CTRL+ALT+up/down does not work for me as, on this computer at least,
those are system-bound to re-orienting the screen itself.
