Doesn't start on my Vista 32. Been trying it again and again, updated to the very latest dotnet framework, installed Windows service patches and other recommended stuff - no chance. At the moment I run 24011NB again. Works nice and smoothly.

Give me more info, pls. If I understand correctly, you can't run wm on vista32 with .net4, but you can with .net3.5? Is there an error message? What happens when you try to start wm?

I have not tried with .net 3.5
With 4.0 all previous WM versions worked (more or less, with the exception of some minor problems that I posted here)
When I start up WM 24017 I get the the attached error messages
I suspected my .net 4.0, so I upgraded to the very latest version 4.0.30319. But I receive the same error messages upon starting WM
The old WM 24011 however, starts up fine without any problems. I run both WM versions portable

I will try it on Win7 this evening. Maybe it is just Vista again that is causing the problems.

Translation of the Windows error messages:

Error1.jpg:
WriteMonkey does not work anymore.
Searching for a solution to this problem....

Error2.jpg (pops up half a minute later):
WriteMonkey does not work anymore.
The program is not executed correctly because of an error. The program will be closed and you will be informed when a solution is available.

The only button I can click at this point is "Close program"

What about 24015 or 14? Does it work?

Didn't keep copies of versions 24015 or 24014. Where do I obtain them?

I am on my way out at the moment to a place where I have access to Win7 and WinXP. Will let you know later this evening if it works there.

Once again, like with my previous problems this one seems to be Vista-related only.  I am able to run the latest version on Win XP and Win7 without any glitches at all. It's only on my Vista machine where I receive the error messages.
Well, unless other users complain about it, too, don't worry about it, Itztok. I intend to get rid of my Vista machine anyway.

I talked to my web hosting provider and they confirmed that their servers were compromised. They assured me it is all good now. About profiles - maybe you don't have permission to write to the wm folder. Install wm in some other folder. Not Program files. Try desktop, just to be sure.
Your messages were in moderation queue. It is a bummer that google do not inform you about that upon posting ...

Is my error-report appearing at all? What's up?

1. Reported on lack of Profiles functionality (gave error code, my machine stats, etc.).

2. Reported on download-source at writemonkey.com cutting off downloads in mid-stream (am able to DL without problem from elsewhere).

Neither of these seem to appear at Google-Groups. Not sure if I'm using the interface wrong? Feel free to email ... cliffprince at gmail .

Thanks for reporting. Do you remember which string did you put into filter box?

Hope this helps. Great app, btw. I was looking for something like that for ages (for Windows)

I just updated my .NET Framework to 4.0. I know this because when I looked in regedit I see v4.

I just opened the .zip for WriteMonkey 2.4.0.17 and I doubleclicked the WriteMonkey application but when it opens, I see the little quote box for WriteMonkey, but right on top of it is a window that says:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Could not load file or assembly 'NetSpell.SpellChecker,
Version=2.1.7.21731. Culture=neutral.
PublicKeyToken=318b389f0db66e46' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

When I press "Continue" the quote box is still there... In Task Manager its called "Splash" and is completely useless.

I dont know how to solve it and no one can fix it. I googled it but no results, only this Forum. Please help.

It seems that you didn't unzipped the files. Did you? You must first copy all the files from the zip to your disk. You can't run writemonkey.exe directly from the zip archive.

Hello:

My Windows Vista cannot run any version of writemonkey. When I click on the .exe file, Windows close the program immediately.

Any ideas??

Thanks.

Wm runs on Vista systems. Can't say what's wrong in your case. Not enough info.
