I don't see a sanitize() function in the new version of write capture. Is there a way to get this behavior?

Nope. wc2 is DOM based.

Is there a reason it can't be done or won't be done? Was the sanitize approach a particular difficult option to support?

It really doesn't make sense for wc2. The point of wc2 is that it puts
elements into the DOM in real time, just like document.write does,
which makes it more compatible. Is there something in particularly
you're trying to do that can only be done with sanitize?
