Hi, I'm from Cambodia. I'm using Affinity Designer on my mac, and now I suggest my company buy it for me at work too. But I have a problem. It doesn't support Khmer font. When I use in Adobe software, it's ok?

I just found a way that we can use Khmer fonts in Affinity but we need to download a free app called Inkscape. It's free and open source. All you need to do is just write the text and edit in that app and then you need to select Path>Object to Path then save it as SVG then you can insert that SVG file to Affinity Designer without error because that text file was converted to an object file. It available in MacOS too but i haven't try it yet because i'm using Win10 but i hope that will work!
Currently, as the screenshot shows and from many users before. There seems to still be a huge part more or less support for proper Khmer Font. As opposed to say Microsoft Word as a an example of a set standard of what i'm sure Khmer Users are looking for when trying to use those exact sort of fonts for design software to show.
I hope the devs will consider making this a sort of a quick high priority to have resolved in the next update as that will be much very appreciated from me.
But some may work.
Out of the four Khmer fonts in Google Fonts, two appear to work with your test text.
Different fonts use different OpenType features in different ways to create the text.
So one of them may work for you now.
So that Khmer font from GF may work for you for now.
You will need to test more thoroughly.
There may be other character sequences which do not work properly.
Please let me know how your tests go with those fonts.
Ah, i never knew you could get khmer fonts from Google Fonts.
I have done a quick test to with the google font, with the classical fonts that specific organizations use here in comparison to word document in what the correct way it should be showing.Affinity Khmer Font Test.afphoto
I seem to still have problems with the Google Fonts. The test includes Khmer OS Siemreap and Muol Light as those are like Arial, Georgia and the Times New Romans Font in English, as they are old but are still the golden standard specific fonts needed to use in certain documents and designs.
The only workaround i have done so far is typing and formatting the words in a word document and screenshot a snippet of it, cutout, and paste it to the Affinity Suite and erase the white background with flood erase. It is very tedious and time consuming workflow in comparison to just being able to type and erase a single character you wish to change, basically.
This is the method i have used over the years but i am requesting this as a feature now. As i have tried the same thing on Adobe photoshop, Gimp, Krita, Inkscape, and these applications works with the fonts well, but obviously their UI/UX and application is not unpar with what i'm already used to here in affinity.
Don't hold your breath Affinity will NOT support any RTL or and thing else that is not Latin based - They shy away from the topic with the usual "Currently not support or no plans" which frankly becomes tedious and annoying - So don't waste your time posting these as NOTHING will be done about it.
I too would like Khmer language support.
Why is it that Office, various Adobe software and Canva can support Khmer input without problems, but Affinity can't?
Is it so difficult to recognize leg characters?

Like you, I've been been using the Affinity suite V1 and now v2. At first I had trouble finding fonts that worked. I am on MacOS by the way.
A while ago, I downloaded a lot of Khmer fonts and made a list of all the ones that worked and the ones that did NOT work.
Note that I got the same result with Illustrator so I think, it is not Affinity or Adobe's fault but the way the creator of the font setup it up.
Affinity only focuses on Latin scripts. The text borders of East Asian scripts all use the baseline of Latin letters. There are 1.6 billion people in East Asia who use Chinese characters. They will not support Cambodia, which has a population of only 16 million... So brothers, this is not an international professional typesetting software, at least not at present.
The problem is always the same one: many characters need several signs combined but instead we get a "+" sign because, I think, that combination is missing within the file. That is how I understand it.
For example, in french we have some character combinations like the "oe" that forms one character "œ" but if the font designer did not create that special combinated character within the font file, we won't be able to display it. Same with accents or even ponctuations. Some fonts don't have all the characters.
I have fenix 6X Pro with Sapphire APAC version. Most languages in the region are supported including Thai, Malay and Bahasa, but not for Cambodia (Khmer Language) which is why it is so frustrated when receive notification from my phone since I only see ??????? as characters.
So, does anyone know how to manually add font to the unsupported watch to fix the question-mark notification issues.
Also, Garmin team, please add support for Khmer language in the the next update.
Unfortunately, there is not a way to add unsupported languages to the watch. This model is released regionally, and will only support specific language text files. To check for supported languages not installed to the watch use these steps:

after install windows XP SP3 and install Unicode 2.01 i try to change name on the folder it don see khmer language i see the corner latter,

Okay, now I have corrected the keyboard problem (#2 in my previous comment). The solution was to open your Keyboard Layout folder and copy the FILES inside, not the FOLDER into the Mac Library, Keyboard Layouts folder. Now I can type Unicode again! Yea! ខ្ងុំសប្បណស់ Is this font displaying correctly for you? For me, on my screen (Firefox browser) the vowels are not joined with the consonants. How can I fix this?
I have installed and used the fonts for about a month now. I have trouble getting Sra EE (as si=eat, e-mail..etc.). Is there another way to type the word si (as eat) or e-mail. The instruction provided does not work in my computer.
Yes, some programs still do not support Khmer Unicode. You could try the Khmer Unicode fonts that start with the KH prefix and see if they work. They were designed for Adobe products, but it is possible they will work with Vegas.
I am glad that Google Docs at least recognizes and displays Khmer text now. Before, the script wouldn't appear at all. However, is there a way to select international fonts, like Khmer, so that Google Docs can effectively be used for non-English scripts in which special fonts are needed?
Yes! Google has an extensive collection of webfonts for webapps hosted on its Google Fonts site, including (currently) 23 different Khmer fonts. (On the left side of the directory, just change the "Script" option to Khmer.)
To add Google Fonts to Google Docs, you will need the Extensis Fonts add-on. Once you have installed the add-on, open a document in Docs and launch the add-on. Find the font(s) you want to add to Docs on the Google Fonts site, then go back to your document and search for the font's name using your browser's text-search function to locate it in the list of fonts. Click it to add!
I try to put Khmer name tag to a few place for testing. Then I see that Khmer font on the maps has problem. If we see in Google Maps, they just fixed and correctly display since a few month ago. Can anybody fix this in OpenStreetMaps?

I am having issues with my PDF export for KHMER - Cambodian language not appearing in the PDFs and same way the Myanmar font appears as boxes. I tried using Aspose.PDF for .Net 17, the most recent version and I see the issue still exists.
We have checked the code snippet and files which you have shared and were unable to find any PPT file. Furthermore, the code file only have the code to merge the documents. Would you please add some more details of the scenario with related files and code snippet, so that we can test the scenario in our environment and address it accordingly.
Please make sure to install fonts in your environment which support full characters of respective languages. We have tested the scenario by installing Khmer UI and Zawgyi-One fonts in our environment, which support KHMER and BURMESE languages respectively and text was fine and readable in the generated PDF. For your reference, we have attached generated PDF and used font files along with code snippet as well.
However, we have also observed that the Burmese characters were cut off from above edges in the generated output. For the sake of correction, we have logged an issue as PDFNET-43657 in our issue tracking system. We will further look into the details of the issue and keep you posted with the status of its correction. Please be patient and spare us little time.
I am using aspose.PDF 9.8 because we have a license it restricts me from using the recent version of aspose. Also with the new fonts, I was able to see myanmar getting fixed, however I am still seeing a missing text for the KHMER cambodian language. Please see attached Documents (3).zip (252.0 KB)
