Hi, Wrens,

There is an intriguing Brattleboro Camerata concert this Sunday at the Brattleboro Music Center. I don’t think I can go, but in case anyone else wants to hustle down there after our rehearsal, see below. I’m also not familiar with the ensemble. Has anyone heard them?

Musicians from Marlboro Group Three Performs this Saturday, April 11

Our Chamber Series continues with Musicians from Marlboro, Group Three this Saturday, April 11.

The 7 p.m. program features two of Haydn's most inviting piano trios, performed by Oliver Neubauer, violin; Judith Serkin, cello; and Solomon Ge, piano. Piano Trio in E-flat Minor, Hob.XV:31 is considered one of Haydn's most dramatic and emotionally charged chamber works, composed during his second London visit. In contrast, Haydn’s Piano Trio in C Major, Hob. XV:27 exemplifies his mature chamber style, combining elegance, wit, and inventive thematic development.

This performance will also showcase three outstanding singers. Bridget Esler, soprano; Chihiro Asano, mezzo-soprano; and Patrick Bessenbacher, tenor, who will perform vocal works by Brahms, Schumann, and Britten, with pianist Lydia Brown.
Brattleboro Camerata Presents “White Light Which Contains All Colors” April 19

The Brattleboro Camerata will sing Johannes Ockeghem's Ave Maria and Arvo Pärt's Magnificant, Nunc dimittis, and Missa syllabica, in their performance titled White Light Which Contains All Colors.

The concert is set for Sunday, April 19, at 4 p.m. at the BMC.

Music Director Jonathan Harvey explains, “Our featured composers are separated by centuries, and their work can sound otherworldly and distant from the sounds of modern music. That sense opens a space for a deeply mystical, awe-inspiring, and meditative listening experience."

The BMC's Brattleboro Camerata is a vocal ensemble devoted to exploring the beauty and power of Renaissance-era and Renaissance-inspired music.
It's Not Too Late to Join the Children's Choir!

Led by Stefan Amidon, the Brattleboro Children’s Choir, for ages 9 and up, will rehearse this spring, leading up to a performance with the Brattleboro School of Dance in mid-May.

The Choir will sing two songs in the performance, one of which is a repeat collaboration first performed by the Children’s Choir and BSD dancers in the 1990s. Now some of the children who were in that show have grown up, are in charge and are bringing it back! While rehearsing for the show, the students will play with vocal production, singing harmonies, and blending as a group, and will sing other songs just for fun, and to grow as a choir.

Classes are Wednesdays, 4 to 5 p.m. If interested, please call the BMC at 802-257-4523, even if a different schedule would be more convenient.
