Merging: ISS Directors Data and Compustat Global Fundamental Annual

Dear Joost,

I am using Riskmetrics Directors (ISS) Global Directors data and Compustat

Global Fundamental annuals for global studies. I am having problems in

merging the two.

I extracted the first six characters of the CUSIP in ISS Directors

 as the SEDOL and then eliminated the last character of the the SEDOL

in Compustat Global data.Then I merge them using year and the 6 character

SEDOL generated. But this did not work.

I have also tried to merge with the CUSIP in IBES by eliminating the first

two characters with the SEDOL in Compustat Global so that I get TICKERS in

Compustat Global. I then merge  Directors ISS and Compustat

Global using year and TICKERS(not IBES TICKERS). This too did not work.

I also tried to merge ISS Directors with BoardEX CRSP Compustat Link (Beta) to

generate GVKEY for the companies in ISS Directors  but only 10

companies were merged.

I have also eliminated the First two and last characters of the ISIN in Compustat Global to generate CUSIP to merge with the ISS Directors but this too did not work.

Please can anyone  direct me on how to merge ISS Directors

 data and Compustat Global Fundamental annuals .
