Hi,

I am experiencing difficulties finding the right items to calculate the book value of a firm from the Compustat - Fundamentals Quarterly. The end goal is to create a Book-to-Market factor.

Here are the items that I'm using so far:

BOOK = seqq + txdbq + itccy + prcay

Using this items, the book value has the wrong order of magnitude (too small). Anyone can help? thanks!

hi,

Do you mean 'regular' book value of equity?

mtb = prccq * cshoq / ceqq;

CEQQ: Common/Ordinary Equity - Total
PRCCQ: Price Close - Quarter
CSHOQ: Common Shares Outstanding

Best,

Joost

Hi Florent, did you figure it out? I'm in the same position as you and I am quite frankly a bit lost...
