For example, the median long-term growth rate (FPI=0) for Pultegroup Inc.'s EPS in IBES statistical period 20130620 is 62.4 (ticker=PHM). What exactly does that mean?
The data seems to be saying that analysts (in this case there's just one analyst) believed in June of 2013 that Pultegroup Inc. would grow at an annual rate of 62.4% per year over some long-term time horizon. But that seems too high. How could an established home builder grow at a rate of 62.4% every year for the "long-term"? For how many years is the "long-term" growth figure supposed to apply, and for which years? For example, is "long-term growth" for EPS supposed to capture annual earnings growth for the next 5 years? For years 3-5 (after the one and two-year ahead forecasts)? Etc.
I can't find any good documentation on how this variable is created/interpreted.
What am I missing?
Thanks!
