Wow! We actually raced! It’s been a while. I sailed with Simpson on Worrell Brothers. Geiger sailed solo on Expletive. Pease and Nelson sailed on Bovine. Seremetis sailed solo on Skinny Sheila. It was light wind when we rigged and launched. Bovine and Expletive launched first and made it to the starting area. Worrell Brothers and Skinny Sheila launched little bit later. The wind shut down so we couldn’t get to the starting area. I mean it shut down. Water like glass. Eric said the wind must be going straight down because that was the direction all of the tell tails were pointing. We move the starting line to G5/speed buoy. We finally managed to get the four boats in that area. Some wind filled in. The course was R4, G5, R4, G5, R4, finish at mooring balls. We had good wind for the first couple of legs. Then it got light and fluky as the big boats were slogging through. It was interesting weaving through the boat traffic and rounding G5 as the big boats were passing G5 in the opposite direction. Towards the end of the race we moved the finish line to G5/speed buoy. Pretty loosey goosey changing the finish line in the middle of the race. But that is how we roll.
The scoring is pretty loosey goosey too, see attachment. Geiger gave me 33:43 and said that he really didn’t know when he crossed the finish line. Pease gave me 32:12 and said that Geiger finished ahead of him. So, I gave Geiger 32:12. I suspect Geiger should have a different rating for sailing solo. I didn’t change the rating because I don’t know what it should be. I can adjust things if necessary.
