Something very new. International Touch Rugby has come to Orlando.
This helps you work on conditioning, passing, and positioning, and
will really teach how to play 7's while getting ready for 15's. Lot's
of fun. The men's club has organized this, but they want to do a
women's league also.

Blue Jacket Park on the edge of Baldwin Park. 10 am every Sunday.

Coach Ron

Orlando RFC has recently welcomed a new member, Phil Wallis. He's a
New Zealander, who became a player/coach of international rules touch
rugby after he retired from the 15-a-side game some years ago. In
addition to having played in international touch rugby tournaments, he
helped set up leagues in both Houston and Singapore. He has just moved
to Orlando and wants to set up a weekly touch rugby session here.

Touch Rugby will be played each Sunday from 10.00 am – 12.00 pm at
Blue Jacket Park on the edge of Baldwin Park. It begins this Sunday,
June 15.

Many old boys have indicated that they would play touch as a way of
getting regular cardio exercise and their “rugby fix”. Everyone is
welcome so we encourage you to bring your families and girlfriends,
etc., as well.

As Touch Rugby is the ideal way to introduce people to rugby - it is
rugby’s pick up game that is played the world over – we will be
marketing and recruiting for it as well. Without the contact, we hope
more of the curious will be willing to give it a try. As the numbers
grow we will continue to make it family fun based but may develop
local age grade and/or co-ed leagues.

Phil will be happy to teach anyone the international touch rugby
rules, and the techniques and skills unique to the touch game. He will
also gladly help and train those of you who may wish to pursue playing
at a higher level or in regional and international tournaments (Phil
has helped set up one in the Cayman Islands around July 4 this year
and is hoping that some of the Orlando players will want to combine
with some from Houston at it).

If anyone thinks they are fit enough (and I doubt if anyone is) ...

Mathews Park in College Park. It has very easy on and off from I-4 at
Princeton Avenue (turn right at first light onto Formosa – park will
be on the right. Parking is at the I-4 side. There is a lot more
nearby shade but no bathroom facilities.
