hey, i just went to add a marker for my map using Gmappity, and none
of the markers show up anymore....did something in the API change? is
anyone monitoring this? no one has replied to the last 3 posts. It's a
great plugin, but no one is responding.

ok, now this is really bizarre...now when i go to edit the map, all of
the plot assignments are missing in addition to them not showing up on
the map. how could this happen?

Hi Jeff, I'm not sure where Matt went off to. I was running into some of the same issues with the markers disappearing and I thought he had it fixed. I can't speak for him but I'll try to send him an email later.
I'm afraid to move or add to mine incase it all blows up again. this is how I'm using it on my site to show photographers locations. http://www.nephotographyguild.com/photographer-locations/

I just sent him an email and to help further here is the link to the WPGmappity page. http://www.wordpresspluginfu.com/wpgmappity/
You can leave feedback there and ask for help that way also.

thanks for your response. the fact that your page still has markers, and mine does not indicates that there is some type of fragility in the way he designed the app. I really like his app when it worked but i had 50 people following my travel, and then when i added another marker, that is when i had the problem. it's frustrating enough for me to start looking elsewhere for something comparable but more reliable. personally, i wouldn't build an app, then advertise my capabilities for hire, and then not respond for weeks at a time. in the competitive marketplace, you don't want to advertise your abilities regardless if you're posting a free app because a fragile app is not good branding for your capabilities. luckily, my use of the app is recreational, so no real harm, but i'm amazed that someone with talent half-asses it.

sorry for the rant, just disappointed that the potential for this app is going unrealized since the author no longer feels it is important to bother with and leaves folks like myself--who was thinking at one point of hiring him for a project--not able to champion his work.

I can't say what his status is, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt since I was shooting him emails daily (2 and 3 times) when I found problems and between us we got most of them worked out. Are you trying to put in special markers? I know that has a few issues. The images for the markers have to be stored in your root directory or the software will ignore the markers and cause problems with the ones you have. So I've been waiting for him to come back to look at this.
My biggest problem is the software won't put a marker down in a location that doesn't have a street address. I've tried to put it down on a pier and it moves the marker a block away tot he nearest street address of it's choosing.

I hate to say this but I've looked at most of the map software available out there and this is the best one for ease of use. I hate trying to figure out short codes and creating maps that way. I love his simple way of creating a map and modifying it to place it on a blog page... Not one other out there is nearly this user friendly...

Now I'm just waiting to see if he comes back before sending him any money..  If he doesn't support it I don't want to throw money at it when all the others programmers out there want some of my money also.

i found a travel map that works for my needs and replaced the gmappity one. If you type in travelmap in the plugin search within your wordpress admin section, then it should be one of the top 3 results. i saw how you are using yours, and i understand why you have been reluctant to change, but my needs are simpler as seen at http://travelinfool.com/cross-country-2011/242/. i stand by what i've written but can respect your opinion as well. I will say that i've been an e-commerce product manager for 15 years and am usually good at spotting developers who are reliable vs. not and that is why i chose to change over. i had a problem once i introduced more than 10 markers and that seems like a rudimentary issue to me. the item you mentioned is more functionality improvements which is different.
