I Bought desktop pc 64 bit pre loaded with
win7, which did not detect some of my old hardware.
So the disk was formatted and windows xp sp3 Pro
installed,
Now windows xp does not detects my Internet connection
I called Bell Sympatico techie, they said that my 2-wire
modem works OK

A help to detect my ISP on
64 bit PC running Windows XP
will be greatly appreciated

You need to obtain and install the Windows XP device driver for your network
interface controller (NIC).

What is the brand and model of of your desktop PC, if it's a consumer
desktop product like an Acer, Dell, Gateway, HP, ..., etc. ?

If it's not a consumer desktop PC then specify the brand and model of the
system board if the NIC is integrated on the motherboard.

If you have a discrete NIC card specify its brand and model.

IT is new Gateway PC 64 bit from Futureshop
It was a demonstrator on the shelf , I don't know
the model, it has 4 gigs mem. and 1 tera HD,
It was loaded with win7 and was detecting ISP
but not the old printer, scanner etc..
Being computer impaired I should have bought
recent hardware and keep the darn Windows 7
Oh well

That's the downfall of older hardware with Windows 7 64-bit.

If the manufacturer of your old printer, scanner, etc. haven't provided a
64-bit driver for your product then you're basically out of luck.

What is the brand and model of your old printer and scanner?

Hi Frosty
It was 7 years old scanner "Mira flatbed scanner"
plus old Canon printer, I got rid of all that
My issue is how to connect my desktop to ISP (Bell Sympatico)
I am sending this post with laptop (32 bit)so there's
no problem from net.
Guess will have to buy Windooze 7

Yeah considering scanner printers are going for 10-30$ that would have
been the best option.

If there is a Windows 7 key on it, you can just download it from
Microsoft's Digital River server. Which version?

Bell DSL? If you can connect wirelessly with your laptop. Your modem is
also a wireless router so you dont need to do anything with that box.

You put in XP on your new machine and new machines may or may not have
device drivers for XP. Would need the exact model # to know what XP
drivers are for it.
