If you are using MTS they offer free Zone Alarm with anti virus and anti
spam.

Also a good free program for controlling parasites:

I use Winpatrol to access the hosts file.

The HOSTS file is something that you can use MS Notepad to edit. You
don't really need a freeware/$hareware program to do that.

That's true, I just find using Winpatrol to access the hosts file is little
faster since I have it operating in the tray at the bottom of the screen
already. The older version on Winpatrol allowed the user to lock the hosts
file -- the newest version has taken that feature away. However Zone Alarm
firewall settings still allow you to lock the hosts file.

The granddaddy of them all is Ad-Aware.

Some anti-virus programs also include them now. Avira is one of them.
