Off topic - are any of the Disciples going to be in San Francisco for the GDC in March? I'll be doing a couple of interviews and talks there for Intel, so it would be great to hook up.

The competition started yesterday, so I've just started writing it. I've hooked in voice recognition and basic gesture tracking, but there's a lot more I want to do on that one. I've currently got the cursor tracking the center of mass of the hand, and it's reading node data including finger tips, so I will be representing them over the next week, and hopefully getting basic mouse down style functionality in there. I have to say, this is kind of cool.

For those who don't know, I'm one of the competitors in the new Ultimate Coder competition from Intel. I'm writing an app that uses a perceptual approach to do the type of things you see in Kinect games, and so on.

Nice work Daniel. I hope all the hard work pays off. The 'unleashed' series has some fantastic titles.

I've just received my new WP8 HTC 8X yesterday - very happy with it.

Just realised I am the polar opposite of Sacha right now, I am a Windows Phone owner who pends most of his time developing for iOS, whereas Sacha is an iPhone owner who spends most of his time on the MS stack!

Sacha, are you not tempted by iOS development yet? ;-)

Colin E.

Cool, what do you use it for? The rx demos for ui event handling looked clever, but added little value, (other than cool value) in my opinion. Id love to see this stuff used for more than just a fancy drag and drop implementation!

Thanks mate!

Speaking of iOS, I've been having a little dabble with XNA and MonoGame in a effort to hook into to that cross platform goodness. I've been able to deploy to WP8 so far. Yet to try android, iphone, but it looks promising.

That is incorrect. There was a rumor due to a badly worded article from MSFT but this has been corrected since.

Right.  I try to refer to “Direct3D” vs “DirectX” as DX covered several distinct technologies, some of which can be forgotten.  D3D is a huge dependency throughout most MS products and even more so in Win8.

MonoGame is an opensource port of XNA. MonoGame leverages sharpdx wwhich is an opensource managed directx api.
